Growing (or raising!) food in your yard is easier than you think, especially here in the Garden City! See what your neighbours are cultivating in everything from compact containers to sprawling garden beds, learn about perennial produce, the needs of native pollinators, composting and rainwater collection, keeping bees or chickens in the city, and what you can grow year-round.

Another Year, another amazing tour
The 2026 Victoria Urban Food Garden Tour was a fantastic day of gardens, inspiration, and connection! Over 300 visitors explored 11 unique urban food gardens across Victoria, discovering creative ways to grow food within city limits. From established gardens cultivated over decades to newer spaces transformed in just a few years, every stop offered something different.
We were thrilled by the enthusiasm of our visitors and grateful to our generous garden hosts, volunteers, and sponsors.

Our 2026 Goal is
To Raise as much money for food Security as we can
Each year we partner with an organization doing the important work of suppling food security in our community. In the past we've raised money for The Rainbow Kitchen, and for the 1Up Single Parent Resource Centre. We look forward to announcing the 2026 beneficiary soon!

Shelbourne Community Kitchen
The Shelbourne Community Kitchen is a warm and welcoming neighbourhood food centre that works to lower barriers to healthy food for more than 1950 adults and 875 children who are living in food insecure households across Saanich and Greater Victoria. With support from more than 300 volunteers,The Kitchen manages gardens, teaches cooking and food literacy programs, and offers dignified and accessible food support for people in need.
